What Is Outlaw Star Press?

Outlaw Star Press is an independent publisher in Albuquerque, New Mexico (Est. 2025). We publish imaginative fiction — gritty sci-fi, mythic fantasy, defiant coming-of-age, and bold adventure — under one standard: fiction that takes men seriously.

We exist because that standard got scarce on the shelves. So we built the house that would still print it.

What we publish

Story first. Always. Characters who are agents under pressure, not props for a sermon. Worlds that push back. Virtues that cost something.

The adult catalog includes The Saga of Shamus, Those Left Behind, and 3VE. Hero Forge is the younger door into the same Realm of Possibility — starting with Prince Aidan and the Monster’s Eye. The Dead Machine releases September 25, 2026.

We treat the Realm of Possibility as real. Shared world, not a brand sticker.

“Men’s fiction” is a marketing bin. “Fiction that takes men seriously” is a judgment: does the work believe a man’s struggle to live well is worth dramatizing without apology?

Who runs it

Jason DeGray founded Outlaw Star Press in 2025 in Albuquerque. Writer first, then press — NM-AZ Book Awards finalist for The Ruined Man (2017) and 3VE (2022). The catalog is the proof. The About page has the longer founder story if you want it.
